Teen Vehicle Usage Contract

_______________________ (hereafter "Guardian") and _______________________ (hereafter "Teen") hereby agree to the following:

Beginning {date}, the Teen will have temporary, shared usage of the household car (hereafter "the Vehicle"), a {year, make, and model}.

The Teen will be permitted to use the vehicle for personal and family use, provided that {he/she} meets the following restrictions and requirements:

• The Teen must have and maintain a valid {state}-issued driver's license, paying for all associated fees
• The Teen must maintain an approved driving record with less than {number} traffic incidents and less than {number} parking or traffic tickets
• The Teen must have the Guardian's approval to use the Vehicle outside of any regular parameters agreed upon in this contract

The Teen will obey all traffic laws at all times while operating the Vehicle.

The Teen will not allow anyone else to operate the Vehicle. The Teen may carry up to {number} passengers in the Vehicle at a time.

The Teen is only permitted to use the Vehicle to drive to and from school, work, and extracurricular activities. This permission may be modified at any time if the Guardian requires the Vehicle for a work, school, family, or medical necessity.

The Teen is permitted to use the Vehicle for social and errand purposes provided the Vehicle is not needed for necessary work, school, medical, or caretaking reasons by another family member. In exchange, the Teen is required to {drive their siblings to school/go grocery shopping once a month/etc.}.

The Teen will {receive a gas allowance/submit receipts for reimbursement/pay for their own gas}.

The Teen will always secure and lock the Vehicle upon exiting.

The Teen {may/may not} consume or keep food and drinks in the vehicle.

The Teen will use only hands-free devices while in the Vehicle. The use of a cellphone while driving without the aid of a hands-free device is strictly prohibited.

The Teen is responsible for keeping the interior clean and well-maintained. The Guardian is responsible for all maintenance and repair, except that which falls under the category of Teen misuse or illegal activities. The Guardian will pay for the Teen's insurance to be added to the Vehicle.

If the Teen violates any of the aforementioned agreements, {he/she} will lose all driving privileges not associated with work, school, or necessary errands for a period of {amount of time}. If the Teen engages in any illegal activities in the Vehicle, all driving privileges will be revoked for a period of {amount of time}.
