Teen Staying Home Alone Contract

This contract defines and establishes behavioral requirements for {Teen's Name}, hereafter known as "Teen," while {Parents' Names}, hereafter known as "Parents," are away. Teen promises to obey the rules and abide by punishments due to violation of said rules.

Teen

Teen understands that staying at home by {his/her}self is a privilege, not a right. As such, Teen shall respect the following household rules in order to maintain that privilege:

• No illegal substances.
• No parties.
• No loud music after {time}.
• Teen may use the car, provided it is for {activities} only.
• Teen will be home by {time} if it is a weekend and {time} if it is a school night. Teen is aware that Parents may surprise call the house at any time to verify Teen's whereabouts.
• If it is a school night, there will be no guests. If it is a weekend, Teen is limited to inviting {number} friends over (of the same gender!)
• If it is a school night, all homework will be completed before TV/friends.
• Teen will turn the stove off and lock all the doors before going to bed at night.
• Teen will not watch any scary movies right before bed if Teen is smart.
• Teen understands that if Parents come home to a trashed house neither Parents nor Teen may ever leave the house again. Conversely, if Parents come home to a house that is cleaner than the state it was left in, Teen may receive bonus privileges and/or monetary compensation.

Parents

Parents understand that Teen is getting older and deserves some privileges and responsibilities. Parents agree to:

• Not call every five minutes just to check in.
• Trust Teen to follow the rules unless Teen gives them reason not to do so.
• Give ${amount} for food, since Teen only knows how to make instant macaroni and frozen waffles and may otherwise starve to death.
• Bring back presents.

Consequences

If Teen violates any of the aforementioned behavioral requirements, the follow punishments will apply: {List here.}

If Parents violate the aforementioned requirements, tough. They're just looking out for Teen's safety and well-being. Also, they're paying for food, clothes, shelter and iPods. Deal with it.
