New Parent Agreement

{Parent 1}, hereafter "Parent 1," and {Parent 2}, hereafter "Parent 2" (collectively "Parents"), hereby agree to the following guidelines for raising their new Child (hereafter "Child"), arriving on {date}:

The Parents agree to have the Baby's room prepared no later than {date}, and featuring the following:

• {Equipment}


• {Safety features}

The Parents will do the following to child-proof the house: {safety features}.

Parent 1 agrees to take {amount of time} off of work to provide the following care: {Care plan}

Parent 2 agrees to provide the following care: {Care plan}

The Parents agree to divide up household labor in the following way: {division of labor}.

The Parents agree to hire help for {cleaning/babysitting} {number} times per {frequency}.

The Parents agree not to have helpers stay over more than {number} nights in a row.

The Parents agree to create time spent alone together on a {frequency} basis.

The Parents agree to {feeding} plan.

The Parents agree to {cloth/disposable/delivery/laundry} diaper system.

The Parents understand that the statements made above may require flexibility, patience, communication, and significant changes throughout early parenthood. They agree to alter this agreement together and to keep each other's feelings in mind.

The Parents agree that the following statements are firm and shall not be changed:

The Parents agree to love and care for the Child unconditionally.

The Parents agree to strive together to meet the Child's physical, mental, educational, and emotional needs.

The Parents agree to educate themselves on healthy ways of raising, disciplining, communicating with, supporting, and advocating for the Child.

The Parents agree to strive together to model healthy affection, love, communication, disagreements, and boundaries for the Child.

The Parents agree never to belittle, degrade, insult, or purposely frighten the Child.

The Parents agree to never harm, strike, shake, threaten, or scream at the Child.
