Company Cell Phone Policy
The following rules and restrictions regarding cell phone use are applicable to all {Company} employees, full-time and part-time, contract, seasonal, temporary, as well as volunteers and interns:
- For the purposes of this policy, the term “cell phone” covers any electronic handheld device that can be used for texting, voice calls, video calls, or internet browsing, and it further covers tablets, PDAs, smart watches, and other digital assistants.
- During company time, personal cell phone use should be limited. While the definition of “limited” is subject to interpretation, employees should use good judgment in using their phones for internet purposes or personal phone calls. Excessive use, as deemed by a supervisor, may result in a verbal warning. Numerous warnings will lead to disciplinary action.
- Personal cell phone use should not interrupt workflow, distract coworkers, be noticeable by clients or customers, or impede productivity.
- Cell phones should be turned off or placed on “Silent” or “Vibrate” while on company property.
- Cell phones {are/are not} allowed in meetings.
- Cell phones are not permitted in the following areas for safety reasons: {areas}. Cell phones are not permitted for any reason other than emergencies while doing the following activities, as it could pose a serious safety hazard: {activities}.
- When driving a company car or while driving on company time or for company purposes, an employee may use their cell phone only if they have a permitted hands-free device. An employee who does not have a permitted hands-free device may answer the phone while driving, provided they immediately pull over to a safe area and turn off their car for the duration of the call. Employees who violate this rule are subject to termination without warning.
- Employees who are repeatedly warned about personal cell phone usage during company time are subject to {consequences}.
