Bookstore Consignment Agreement

_______________________ (hereafter “Bookstore”) hereby agrees to the following consignment contract for the title _______________________ (hereafter “Book”) from ___________________________ (hereafter “Publisher”):

Bookstore agrees to carry {number} of the Book on their shelves over a {number}-day period, from {date} to {date} or until {event/new release/holiday/etc.}.

The Publisher will:

• Ship the books to {Contact} at {mailing address}
• Deliver the books in person to {Contact} at {location in Bookstore}

The {Publisher/Bookstore} will set the shelf price for the Book. The Bookstore may mark down or price the Book for sale or clearance at their discretion. The Publisher will receive {percentage} of the FINAL SALE of each copy of the book sold. Payment will be remitted to the Publisher at the end of the consignment period in one lump sum along with a written summary of sales and receipts.

The Book will be available to customers in the {genre/category} section of the Bookstore. The Bookstore will {promote/prominently display/do a write-up for} the Book, contingent on {further payment of $, increased sales, positive press, etc.}.

Any loss, damage, or theft of copies of the Book while in the Bookstore’s possession will be the sole responsibility of the Bookstore. In the case of loss, damage, or theft, the Bookstore will pay the Publisher the shelf price the copy was listed for at the time of the loss, damage, or theft.

In the final {number} days of the consignment period, the Publisher may schedule an appointment to collect payment and any remainders at the Bookstore by contacting {Contact} at {contact info}. If no appointment is made, the Bookstore will send a check for the Publisher’s percentage of total sales to {Publisher mailing address}.

If the Publisher does not appear in person to collect the remaining copies of the Book within {number} days of the end of the consignment period, any remaining books will be:

• Donated locally to an organization of the Bookstore’s choice (no cost to the Publisher)
• Recycled (no cost to the Publisher)
• Shipped back to the Publisher at a cost to the Publisher of {$} per ten copies (round {up/down}), with the cost of shipping subtracted from the Publisher’s portion of the profit.
