Conduct in Vehicle Policy

Vehicle

All employees will drive {company vehicles/their own vehicle} when traveling or driving for work-related purposes such as {examples}. The {Company/Driver} is expected to maintain the vehicle and ensure it meets all safety standards and is equipped with necessary equipment such as {jumper cables, spare tire, jack, snow chains, first aid kit, flares, etc.}. The Driver {may/may not} submit receipts for {fuel/mileage} reimbursement. The {Company/Driver} must maintain insurance on the vehicle according to the following specifications: {specifications}.

Driver

The Driver is expected to be professional and courteous while operating a vehicle on company time. The Driver must operate the vehicle in accordance with all state and federal laws and observe road and weather conditions with caution. The Driver must have a valid driver's license for {state} and be licensed for at least {number} years. In order to operate {vehicle type}, The Driver must complete {special driving course}. The Driver must authorize the Department of Motor Vehicles to release their driving record to {Company}.

Safety

The Driver must complete the company safe driving course before beginning work and again every {amount of time}. Any Driver found to be behaving in a way that is unsafe may be required to retake the course at the company's discretion. The Driver and their passengers must always wear seatbelts. The Driver must always drive at or under the speed limit.

Unsafe Behavior

The Driver may not have alcohol or illegal drugs in the vehicle while driving. The Driver must not have more than {number} passengers or more passengers than available and functioning seatbelts. The Driver must not drive more than {number} hours in one stretch. The Driver must not drive while under the effect of alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription drugs that cause drowsiness. The Driver must not drive while fatigued.

Reporting

The Driver must notify the Company of any changes to their record or driver status within {amount of time} of the change. The Driver must notify the Company (and police, when applicable) of any collisions or damage to the vehicle. The Driver must notify the company of any violations or infractions received while driving for work-related purposes.
